Brush and Shutter
A Fusion of Photography and Painting–

Tintero ties up with Breakthrough and Milestone Productions International (BMPI) in presenting Brush and Shutter, a charity photo and painting exhibit. The main objective of this event is to help send and sustain the Free College Education Program for underprivileged students highlighting photography works by Daniel S. Razon – mirrored in oil on canvas by over 30 promising and recognized Filipino painters.

In this expansive art event, the artists take on a different threshold of addressing people’s altruistic selves instead of the formulaic visual display that appeals only to one’s sentiments and aesthetic senses.

Brush and Shutter exhibit is on view until tomorrow at the Tala Gallery (100 Scout De Guia Street, near Tomas Morato) in Quezon City.

FPPF offers more photography courses

There is an ever-increasing number of photography enthusiasts taking up photography courses offered by the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation (FPPF).

Classes for basic and advanced courses are originally held on Sundays at the Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila. To accommodate more participants, Saturday classes were opened. But still there is a surge of more enrollees compelling FPPF to open more classes.

The basic course is open to students, professionals, housewives, out-of-school youth, office and factory personnel, among others, while the advanced course is offered to graduates of the basic photo seminar and those who can prove sufficient knowledge in photography.

Graduates of the courses have found a relaxing and fulfilling recreation while some went further carving a name in photography and became professionals.

There are now more basic and advanced photography courses for this year to accommodate more photography enthusiasts. The first-come-first-served workshops will be held until end of this year. The next basic photo course will be on October 17 and 18 while the Sunday workshop will be on October 18.

FPPF offers other professional photography courses like web design, digital darkroom workshop (Adobe CS3), cruise ship and food photography. Lecturers for all photography courses are multi-awarded and professional photographers.

Lighting Techniques for Portrait Photography

Learn about photographic lighting and be able to apply it immediately for portrait photography in just two days!

On the first day, Primer on Lighting will discuss lighting concepts and techniques. It will enable participants to learn the fundamental principles of lighting, master the primary controllable characteristics of light, and become familiar with the different lighting tools used in the studio and on location.

Practical application on light metering and ratio control, the different lighting setups, lighting and other studio equipment of portrait shoot, lighting approaches for the key light, and lighting roles in portraiture is scheduled the following day (Lighting for Portrait Photography).

Primer on Lighting + Lighting for Portrait Photography will be held at the Filipinas Heritage Library, located along Makati Avenue, Ayala Triangle in Makati City (across The Peninsula Manila) on October 3 and 4, 2009 (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

In this crash course, Jay Alonzo will emphasize light as the supreme tool in photography. He will equip participants with an in-depth knowledge of lighting design and control. To immediately apply the newfound knowledge, participants will be guided in systematically setting up lights and “reading” lighting conditions to achieve best lighting design and exposure for portrait photography.

Basic knowledge in photography and a camera, preferably digital SLR, are required in this class. For more details, please call 892-1801, send an SMS to 0917-559-4417, e-mail cruz.ct@ayalafoundation.org, or visit www.filipinaslibrary.org.ph.
